SIGMA TERM 2020/ 2021 NEWS LETTER

Dear parent/guardian,

All glory,praises and honour goes to the Lord God Almighty in making this sigma term a successful one by protecting, directing and keeping us all from all harm. We also appreciate you as a parent for your continuous support in the fulfilment of the Elias International School vision.

      A.  EVENTS OF THE TERM:

   i. Co-Curricular Activity - Due to the Covid-protocols and instruction the school was unable to have the proposed. National Day that was supposed to be held in this term, month of February. We still have hope to have it next year sigma term.

  ii.Field Trip: All arts students from SS 1-3 went for a program titled ‘spirit of poetry’ on the 3^rd of march at Caleb International School Magodo while SS 3 students also attended Panacea 2021 in preparation for WAEC.

iii. External Competitions:- The school participated in the Royal National Mathematics Challenge Competition on the 17^th of March and the result is yet to be out. Some students are preparing for another Mathematics Competition coming up on 17^th April, 2021.

iv.Football Competition:- The school football team participated in a friendly march with Bopton school at Command Alade field.

v. Internal Competition:

Spelling Bee : The school initiated a new form of spelling BEE, which is Yoruba and French, the English spelling was also included. Surprisingly student really perform well during the competitions which cut across all classes, despite the language.

 vi. P.T.I.F:- A virtual Parents Teachers Interactive Forum was held on the 13^th of February, 2021. Discussion focused on the need for both school and parents to still ensure children fulfil Covid protocols for safety.

The need for a chess instructional class/club was discussed, an invited chess consultant enumerated on the benefit of the game. Chess is an educational game that helps the brain in critical thinking. A parenting book  was also introduced for parents to buy and read by Teen Activate consultants.

 V. COVID-19:- We thank God for good health given to us, though the school has been proactive on the issue of safety by compelling hand washing and sanitizing of hands before anyone enters the school premises. Kindly ensure that the children maintain the act of cleanliness, healthy living and safety outside the school. The Lord will keep us safe from secret traps and deadly diseases, neither will any plague come near our dwelling place by God’s grace.

The Vaccine for COVID-19 is now out and the government expect everyone to take it, please afford yourself the opportunity in the nearest legit centre close to you. 

 B .LOOKING FORWARD

  i. Admission/Entrance Examination: - Admission is on into all classes, the JSS 1 entrance exam will be in four batches on the 24th of April, 22^nd of May,  19^th of June,and 3^rd  July 2021, please patronize the school.

 ii. Scholarship

The school has a scholarship program which started this 2020/2021 session. The best student in JSS 3 examination BECE was given a year scholarship of free tuition and other fees. Every student who will emerge with outstanding performance of 9 distinction will be given this grace henceforth. Let parents motivate their children to work hard, any student can enjoy this grace if they can only try hard and be serious.

 iii. Chess Club (An Educational Game opportunity for critical thinking)

Based on discussion the school had with parents during the on-line PTIF meeting , a chess club has been enacted for interested students. The fees for this is N3,000.  Interested parents should pay  to the bursar or pay along with school fees and show evidence of payment before the commencement of the class.

 iv. Jss3 & Ss3 Examination :- The date for JSS 3 examination is yet to be communicated but tentatively the month of June/ July. WAEC examination will be coming up from 16^th of August, 2021. While NECO starts on the 5^th July. All JSS 3 students will continue with their classes throughout the holidays from 19^th April,2021. While SS 3 will continue to be in school as the school has important programs  outlined for them.

N.B: All SS 3 will henceforth sit for NECO, payment is ongoing kindly afford your child the opportunity.

 v. Hostel Accommodation: The school has provision for the JSS 3 & SSS 3 to come to the hostel in order to afford themselves the opportunity of having more time to study for their forth coming examination. Kindly meet the accountant for the bills.

vi. School Fees: The school tuition fee has being reviewed and increased by 20 % in the sum of N10,000. The fee was last reviewed five years back. The school need parents support for a better service. We pray the Lord bless you mightily.

vii. Graduation/ Valedictory Service: The school will be having its graduation cum Valedictory service on the 23^rd of July, 2021, all things being equal.

Viii. Project/Assignment: - The assignment would be communicated through the parents / class  whatsapp group later on or on the class platform on prodigy.  Students should do the work before resuming.

 ix. School Website & E-Result: - The activities of the school can be monitored by logging on to the website www.eliasschools.com .  x. Vacation And Resumption: The school has officially closed on 13^th April 2021 to resume back on Tuesday 4^th May, 2021.
